Transposons are a large topic that can't be covered by one or even several review papers. It really needs a book. This one is excellent, and covers some of the seminal work by Barbara McClintock, a chapter surveying the different types of elements,|||“I do love books where the text points toward the future as well as distilling the past and present. The transposable genetic elements, or transposons, as they are now known, have had a tumultuous history. Discovered in the mid-20th century by Barbara McClintock, they were initially received with puzzlement.
